“9-1-1” fans, it looks like season nine is going to be out of this world.
Literally.
ABC released the trailer for the upcoming premiere, featuring Mark Consuelos as guest star. He plays CEO Tripp Hauser, who finds himself swallowed by a massive whale during a kayaking trip. The 118 crew is called to the scene and successfully rescues Hauser, with Hen, portrayed by Aisha Hinds, performing CPR. Grateful, Hauser hails Hen as a hero and offers to reward her with a trip to space for her and a guest. Hen first asks her wife, Karen (Tracie Thoms), who declines, leading Hen to persuade Athena (Angela Bassett) to join her.
The rest of the 118 team gathers to witness this space adventure. However, things don’t go according to plan. Hauser is informed of an impending geomagnetic storm just as the spaceship prepares for launch. Despite expert advice to abort the mission, he proceeds with the launch. Contact with the ship is lost due to the storm, throwing everything into disarray on the ground.
On The Red Carpet recently caught up with Ryan Guzman, who plays Eddie.
“There’s always something crazy going on and we’ve got something crazy going on this season too,” he said.
He added that fans need to sufficiently prepare themselves for the first three episodes of this season.
“First, we’ll ease you into it. By the second and third incidents, you’ll definitely be on edge. You’ll sense the gravity of the situation we’re in. I’m really trying not to give too much away because there’s so much I want to reveal! But there are numerous elements at play, and one of our main characters will find themselves in a precarious situation,” hinted Guzman.
Indeed, the trailer concludes with Hen desperately reaching out for Athena as she’s pulled up and away from the spaceship. Insert the shocked emoji right here!
“9-1-1” premieres October 9 at 8pm EST / 7pm CST on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
