NEW YORK — A new fashion wave is taking over social media, as people are swapping their cozy sweatpants for stylish sweaters.
This trend ignited from a TikTok sensation created by Jason Gyamfi and Richard Minor from the Bronx, which has garnered more than 23 million views.
Young men nationwide are embracing quarter-zip sweaters, sharing their sartorial upgrades and personal growth stories online.
Upon graduating with a computer science degree from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, Gyamfi realized he needed to refine his wardrobe for job interviews.
“When you look good, you feel good, and that confidence translates into doing well,” Gyamfi explained.
After sharing his professional attire with his thousands of followers, Gyamfi sparked a quarter-zip revolution.
And it isn’t just young men who are ditching the Nike tech and hoodies; tweens and teens from all over are joining in on the movement.
Gyamfi says the idea behind the movement is about personally elevating and motivating at the end of the day.
“The movement is elevation at the end of the day, when you leave your house, you’re the best version of yourself, point blank, period,” Gyamfi said.
He added it’s really not about the clothes.
“The man makes the clothes, not the clothes make the man,” Gyamfi said.
