TITUSVILLE, Fla. – In a dramatic turn of events on Tuesday, a driver deemed a “Super Speeder” was apprehended following a high-speed chase in Brevard County. The incident unfolded when a local deputy, stationed for radar enforcement on I-95 and State Road 46 near Titusville, noticed an unusually fast-moving blue BMW.

The speeding vehicle was initially clocked at 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. However, the deputy’s radar soon confirmed the car was actually traveling at a staggering 94 mph. As the deputy attempted to catch up, the BMW accelerated even more, reaching a dangerous speed of 111 mph while weaving through traffic, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver, identified as Yehya Ramzi from the Bronx, New York, was eventually pulled over on the shoulder of I-95. Ramzi was arrested under Florida’s stringent “Super Speeder” law and was taken to the Brevard County Jail without further incident.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey addressed the arrest on social media the following day. “There is absolutely no reason to be driving 111 mph anywhere, much less on a congested highway during the holidays and busiest travel time of the year,” Ivey remarked, underscoring the potential dangers posed by such reckless driving.

On Wednesday, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted on social media about Ramzi’s arrest.

“There is absolutely no reason to be driving 111 mph anywhere, much less on a congested highway during the holidays and busiest travel time of the year,” said Ivey.

HB 351, the “Super Speeder” law that took effect July 1, established a new criminal offense under a state statute labeled “dangerous excessive speeding.”

The law targets drivers who go at least 50 mph over the speed limit or who speed at 100 mph or more in a way that threatens the people or property around them.
