Rangers lose to Predators as J.T. Miller sits with injury

Filip Forsberg and Steven Stamkos both found the back of the net, while Justus Annunen showcased his skills with 16 saves, leading the Nashville Predators to a 2-1 victory against the New York Rangers on Sunday night.

Ryan O’Reilly contributed with two assists, aiding Nashville in securing their second consecutive win and their third out of the last four games.

Stamkos notched an empty-netter before Jonny Brozinski dashed Annunen’s hopes of a shutout, scoring with just 35.9 seconds remaining on the clock.

Jonathan Quick, representing the Rangers, made an impressive 30 saves. The Rangers had been riding a wave of two straight victories prior to this match. You can read more about their recent performance here.

The scoring began with Forsberg midway through the second period. O’Reilly advanced the puck into the Rangers’ zone, setting Forsberg up for a perfect wrist shot over Quick’s left shoulder, marking Forsberg’s 16th goal of the season. This goal extended both Forsberg’s and O’Reilly’s point streaks to eight and seven games, respectively.

The Rangers played shorthanded, missing captain J.T. Miller due to an upper-body injury from their previous shootout win over Philadelphia. Additionally, forwards Gabe Perreault and Matt Rempe were absent due to illness, forcing the Rangers to field 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
