Consumers are urged to promptly store the recalled serum bottles in a safe place, away from children’s view and reach.
WASHINGTON — A recall has been issued for certain hair growth products sold across the country due to inadequate child-resistant packaging, as reported by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday.
The commission identified two minoxidil-based hair growth serums for lacking proper child-resistant packaging, which poses a significant risk of poisoning that could lead to serious injury or even death. The recall involves approximately 16,900 units of RootStim Beard Growth Serum 5% Minoxidil and around 25,000 units of Ruahouine Hair Growth Serum.
Consumers are urged to promptly store the recalled serum bottles in a safe place, away from children’s view and reach.
The affected Ruahouine hair growth serums were available on Amazon from January to July 2025, priced at around $10 each.

Similarly, the RootStim bottles were sold on Amazon from November 2024 through September 2025, retailing for $20 each.

The two serum bottles were manufactured in China. No injuries or illnesses have been reported in relation to this recall.
Consumers who have the RootStim can contact the company for instructions on receiving a replacement product. The companies have also urged customers to discard the original bottle.
