Rep. Tim Burchett Involved in Physical Altercation With Protester, Then Wrecks Him With Terrific Line

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) is one of the more humorous members of Congress.

I appreciate that he consistently takes the responsibility to update the public about his activities in the House. He also possesses a sharp humor when addressing critics.

Here’s Rep. Burchett’s report on what they were voting on Thursday. He said it should save us “some serious money.”

However, Burchett encountered a protester who reportedly confronted him aggressively, leading to a physical altercation outside the Longworth House Office Building on Thursday. This occurred following the week’s final House votes. The protester was displeased with Burchett’s stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, and reportedly collided with Burchett, who stood his ground. Burchett then pushed him back.

“People have the right to their opinions and to say whatever offensive things they wish. But physically confronting the Congressman is not acceptable,” stated Will Garrett, a spokesperson for Burchett.

With his usual humor, Burchett remarked that the man “had bad breath.” It’s his way of saying he finds both the protester’s arguments and approach distasteful. Fortunately, he seems to be fine after the incident.

The Capitol Police questioned the man, and he was released. So far, there are no charges.

The Capitol Police informed the Washington Examiner that they are unable to comment on any ongoing investigations for safety reasons. So, they might be considering actions, but they’re opting not to disclose them yet. We’ll have to wait to see if any further developments occur.

Burchett is not one who will roll over if someone gets physical with him.

I mentioned Burchett’s knack for witty retorts with critics. A man regularly waits for him at Congress, asking foolish questions. This individual maintains a respectful distance and simply poses silly queries, which Burchett routinely answers with clever comebacks.
