Republican candidate Steve Hilton demands Chad Bianco drop out of CA governor race

Steve Hilton, a Republican candidate for governor, has issued a pressing request to fellow Republican contender Chad Bianco to bow out of the race. Hilton cautions that a split among GOP candidates might allow Democrats to secure both positions in California’s upcoming general election.

As the primary approaches swiftly, Hilton highlights that the competition has narrowed to three key contenders vying for the two available spots on the November ballot.

“It’s an incredibly close race,” Hilton remarked in a post on social media. “Essentially, three candidates are in a tight contest for two positions in the general election.”

Hilton, formerly a host on Fox News, depicted a grim scenario for conservatives if the GOP fails to unite behind one candidate.

“We could end up with Tom Steyer and Xavier Becerra on the general election ballot,” he warned. “That would be a catastrophe for California.”

Hilton intensified his appeal to Bianco, suggesting that internal Republican conflicts could lead to what he described as an electoral “Doomsday Scenario.”

“ONE MAN can stop the Doomsday Scenario!”

“Chad, the best time to drop out was two weeks ago. The second best is now…”

Hilton also argued that key Republican priorities, including voter ID measures, could be jeopardized if Democrats lock Republicans out of the governor’s race.

He warned that GOP candidates across California’s ballot would suffer politically unless Bianco withdraws.

The plea comes after a new California Post poll released Friday showed a surprisingly tight contest at the top of the field.

The survey, conducted May 26-28, found Democrat Tom Steyer and Hilton tied for first place at 25% each.

Former Biden-staffer Xavier Becerra, long viewed as a frontrunner, trailed in third with 19%.

Bianco placed fourth with 10%, followed by Katie Porter at 7% and Matt Mahan at 6%.

The poll reported a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points and a 95% confidence level
