Rick Scott: Castros Will Leave Cuba Before U.S. Picks Up Raul

In a recent segment on Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power,” Senator Rick Scott of Florida shared his thoughts on the potential capture of Raul Castro. During the Tuesday broadcast, Scott suggested that apprehending Castro in Cuba would not pose a significant challenge. However, he speculated that Castro may preemptively leave the country to avoid imprisonment.

Scott elaborated, drawing a comparison to the swift action taken against Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. “The Cubans were defending Maduro, and it only took seven minutes to deal with him,” Scott remarked, implying that Raul Castro’s capture would require even less effort. He hinted at growing dissatisfaction among the Cuban populace, suggesting a climate ripe for change.

At this point, co-host Kailey Leinz interjected to seek clarification on Scott’s perspective. “Do you really expect that to happen?” she inquired.

Scott affirmed his belief confidently, “Absolutely, I expect that to happen.”

Pressing further, Leinz asked, “You expect the U.S. to go in and get Castro?”

Scott responded with his reasoning, “I believe Raul Castro will leave the country with his family. At 95 years old, he certainly doesn’t want to face the same fate as Maduro and spend his final years in a U.S. prison. I think he’ll choose to flee before we have a chance to apprehend him.”
