A bus carrying students from the Maryland School for the Blind veered out of control Tuesday and slammed into the side of a building in Baltimore, authorities said.
Police said three students and two adults were aboard the bus when it left the roadway around 2:40 p.m. and crashed into a pharmacy in Parkville.
The bus driver, one student and another man at the scene suffered minor injuries, officials said.
The impact was powerful enough to rattle the walls of nearby Enchanted Cakes and Treats, owner Carrie Shelley said, sending about half of the shop’s merchandise tumbling from the wall.
“Pretty much everybody from all of the buildings came running out,” Shelley told the Baltimore Sun.
Witnesses quickly ran toward the bus and managed to open its door, Shelley told the newspaper.

A “frantic” student then stumbled out of the vehicle, she said.
Carrie Crawford, a teacher at the Maryland School for the Blind who lives nearby, was among those who responded to the crash scene.
Crawford said she was “scared to death” for the safety of one of her students who’d been riding on the bus – a nonverbal girl who uses a wheelchair.
But when she got to the scene, Crawford saw that the girl was “smiling” and safely with her father.
“We’re just happy that no more folks are injured,” Baltimore County Fire Bureau Chief Travis Francis said.
The cause of the crash is being investigated, authorities said.
“The injuries are minor, and we want to get some calmness back to the neighborhood soon.”
