Several people were injured Sunday after gunfire broke out at Seattle Center, police said, prompting a large emergency response at one of the city’s busiest public gathering spaces.
Officers and medics started arriving at the scene shortly after 6 p.m. The Seattle Center had been hosting the Bite of Seattle food festival throughout the weekend.
“Please avoid the area,” the Seattle Police Department said in a post on X.

Authorities have not said whether any suspects have been identified or taken into custody.
INC News contacted the Seattle Police Department seeking further details about the shooting and the number of victims.
Kayla Carris, 22, said she was seated outside the Armory during the Bite of Seattle when panic erupted and people began screaming and rushing into the Seattle Center Armory for safety.

“Everyone was just throwing stuff and running,” Carris told The Seattle Times. “Like everyone.”
Todd Behrends, 59, said he heard what appeared to be several rounds of shots.
People began running and jumping over each other to escape, Behrends told the outlet. One woman fell, and someone stepped on her leg.
Police have not confirmed whether any suspects were taken into custody. (FOX 13 )
Behrends said he saw a woman on the ground and a man on a stretcher as he ran toward an exit.
