Leaked texts linked to Jane Doe in Cornell fraternity probe
Newly surfaced text messages are adding another layer to the sexual assault investigation at Cornell University, as Fox News correspondent Bryan Llenas reports additional details. The development comes as students continue protesting on the Ithaca, New York, campus and calling for accountability and justice.
In a separate case, police said a 19-year-old man was arrested after allegedly recording a University of North Carolina at Charlotte student during a sexual encounter and posting the video in a fraternity group chat.
Authorities identified the suspect as Alexander Michael Evanoff. Investigators allege that on Sept. 19 he used his cellphone to secretly capture a sexually explicit video of the woman while they were having sex, then distributed the recording without her consent. He faces one count of disclosing private images and two felony counts of secret peeping.
Police said Evanoff later shared the video with a Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity group chat containing 32 members.

According to an affidavit, Evanoff told investigators that he deliberately recorded the sexual encounter and sent the video to the fraternity chat.
He also reportedly acknowledged that he never asked the woman for permission to record or distribute the footage.

When the woman confronted Evanoff, she allegedly asked whether sharing the video with the fraternity chat was intended to make him “appear cool.” According to the affidavit, he responded affirmatively and apologized.
Court and jail records show that Evanoff was arrested Monday and released Tuesday after posting $10,000 bond.

A university spokesperson told WSOC that Evanoff is not enrolled at UNC Charlotte.
“The individual who has been charged is not currently enrolled at the University. The alleged conduct in this case, if true, is reprehensible. It is not what we expect or will tolerate from members of our campus community,” the spokesperson said.
News Outlet contacted UNC Charlotte, Evanoff’s attorney and Sigma Alpha Epsilon seeking comment.
