A devastating event unfolded in a small Iowa town on Monday, leaving seven people dead, including the alleged shooter.

Authorities responded to reports of gunfire on the 200 block of Park Avenue in Muscatine, Iowa, at approximately 12:20 p.m. on June 2, according to information shared with WQAD.

Upon arrival, police discovered four individuals who had been fatally shot, as reported by the Muscatine Police Department.

The suspect has been identified as 52-year-old Ryan Willis McFarland. Officers encountered McFarland on the riverfront trail near the pedestrian bridge, where he took his own life during the confrontation, authorities stated.

During the investigation, officers learned there might be additional victims. A man was found dead inside his home on the 1500 block of Mill Street, and another was found dead inside a business on the 800 block of Grandview Avenue.

The shootings took place across the city and police believe the shootings stemmed from a domestic dispute. All of the victims are believed to be McFarland’s family members.

The shootings are still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Muscatine Police Department.
