Alleged new ransom notes released in Nancy Guthrie investigation
The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of television host Savannah Guthrie, remains under investigation. Alleged kidnappers demanded $4 million in Bitcoin and later claimed she had “perished” after being abducted. Newly released ransom notes and other evidence are giving investigators fresh leads as the case continues.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday that it and the FBI task force investigating Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance had been alerted to a possible new ransom note.
“The PCSD/FBI Guthrie Task Force was recently made aware of a new possible ransom note related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” the department wrote Tuesday on X.
Investigators are also reviewing social media comments about the note and assessing whether the information is credible, the department said.
However, a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told Fox News that authorities are not treating any new notes as credible.
According to the FBI and PCSD, Nancy Guthrie was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home during the early morning hours of Feb. 1 and has not been seen since.

Guthrie was last seen shortly before 10 p.m. local time on Jan. 31, after a relative dropped her off at her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills neighborhood.

Investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest, even though a masked man was captured on Guthrie’s Ring doorbell camera.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in the days after Guthrie disappeared that she had been taken. During a news briefing, he stated, “She did not leave on her own. We know that.”

Authorities released two ransom notes connected to Guthrie’s kidnapping in July.
The first note, sent Feb. 2, said Guthrie was unharmed and demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency in exchange for her release.
A second note, sent four days later on Feb. 6, claimed that Guthrie had died soon after she was kidnapped.
When authorities published the notes in late July, they said the messages featured a distinctive writing style and urged anyone who recognized the patterns to contact PCSD or the FBI.
