The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office did not release the man’s identity, but the agency said he was in his mid-50s.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Late Monday night, a fatal hit-and-run incident occurred at a Walgreens in Jacksonville, resulting in the death of a man, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO Sgt. Robert Hungerford, officers were called to the Walgreens at 7224 Merrill Rd. around 11:45 p.m. following a report of an unresponsive individual.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was described by Hungerford as being in his mid-50s. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced him dead at the scene, Hungerford added.

“It appears the male was struck by a vehicle which then fled the scene,” Hungerford told First Coast News in a statement.

JSO did not release a description of the vehicle nor a description of the suspect.

This crash marks as the 70th traffic fatality in Duval County for 2025, Hungerford said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
