John Gotti's grandson allegedly attacked girlfriend days before reporting to prison for COVID fraud

The grandson of infamous Mafia leader John Gotti is now facing legal troubles after an alleged assault on his girlfriend. This incident occurred just before he was due to start serving a prison sentence for misappropriating COVID-19 relief funds.

Carmine Gotti Agnello, aged 39, reportedly attacked his partner in a fit of jealousy late Tuesday evening at his residence in Long Island, New York. According to the New York Post, he accused her of infidelity, prompting her to escape from the house.

The complaint, as reported, describes Agnello pursuing the woman outside, where he allegedly slapped her, punched her on the left side of her face, and strangled her with both hands. It is also claimed that he kicked her and destroyed her $2,000 cellphone by smashing it.

Agnello faces charges including third-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, and criminal obstruction of breathing. During a court appearance in Nassau County on Thursday, he was released without needing to post bail.
