4 children hurt after bouncy house gets swept up by gust of wind

Shocking Incident: Bouncy House Torn by Strong Winds Injures Four Children

A gust of wind sent a bouncy castle airborne, leading to injuries for four children, reports indicate.

SYDNEY, NSW — On Saturday, a bouncy castle was lifted by the wind and carried over a fence, resulting in four children being hospitalized, as reported by Australian media.

The inflatable structure became unanchored and soared approximately 23 feet into the air due to a sudden strong wind in southwestern Sydney, Australia, on Saturday morning, according to People.

At the time of the incident, five children were inside the bouncy castle. Of these, four boys, aged between 9 and 13, were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, as stated by 7 News.

The children sustained injuries to their arms, backs, and shoulders, but are all in stable condition, reported News.com.au.

A representative from the company that provided the bouncy castle mentioned that the owners described the wind as a “massive” force, likened to a “freak tornado,” according to The Daily Telegraph.

Along with the bouncy castle being blown away, the spokesperson said the wind also “ripped away” a generator.

Wind gusts of up to 45mph had been recorded in nearby Canterbury, and 55mph at Sydney Airport, according to 9 News.

The incident is under investigation by SafeWork New South Wales, a workplace health and safety regulator, according to the Australian Broadcast Company.
