Palmdale Street shooting on Jacksonville's Northwest side leaves man dead

A man in his 30s is on the mend after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in a confrontation at a restaurant parking lot on Jacksonville’s Northside, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded early Tuesday morning at approximately 6:15 a.m. in the parking lot of Barons Crab Stop, situated at 1069 Golfair Blvd. Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of the shooting, according to JSO Sgt. Richardson.

Details from the investigation reveal that the altercation between the victim and the suspect was triggered by a dispute over money. During this heated exchange, the suspect discharged a firearm several times, hitting the victim in the armpit, bicep, and thigh.

Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victim are not life-threatening, as confirmed by Sgt. Richardson. The victim and suspect are known to each other, although the nature of their relationship remains unclear at this time.

The shooting is believed to be an isolated incident, and detectives have been gathering information by interviewing witnesses present at the scene. Further inquiries are underway to uncover more details about the circumstances leading to this confrontation.

Richardson said the man and suspect know each other, however, the sheriff’s office does not yet know the relationship between the two. He added that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and that detectives spoke to witnesses.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
