A man from London finds himself in custody after allegedly trying to injure a commuter by claiming affiliation with the CIA, according to officials.
Twenty-five-year-old Zakir Ibrahim has been charged with attempted murder following his capture in Chicago on March 3, reports CWB Chicago.
Authorities contend that Ibrahim confronted an Amtrak traveler at Union Station, threatened the individual by pressing a knife to his nose, and attempted to cut his throat, the source detailed.
Court documents acquired by the publication reveal that prosecutors described how Ibrahim brandished the knife at the victim’s face, then stepped back and proceeded to aim for the individual’s throat, narrowly missing by less than an inch.
The victim managed to evade the alleged assault, having to lean back to prevent the blade from making contact, according to the legal filing.
Ibrahim purportedly asserted that he was a CIA operative and believed the victim to be an assassin, which prompted his attack on the fellow passenger, as reported by the outlet.
Authorities have added the alleged attack was caught on video by multiple witnesses at the station.
Ibrahim was subsequently taken into custody and held without bond, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

An attorney assigned to represent Ibrahim was not identified within jail records.
He is set to appear in court again on March 27, jail records show.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
