This weekend’s new releases on streaming platforms feature some fantastic summer movies packed with action, excitement, and even vampires. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is now available on HBO Max, so if you missed it in theaters, there’s no better way to celebrate July 4th than with some Southern vampire intrigue. On Prime Video, don’t miss John Cena and Idris Elba portraying world leaders-turned-action heroes in Heads of State, while on Netflix, Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman face off in The Old Guard 2.

New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Sinners, Heads of State, The Old Guard 2 and more

Sinners is hailed as one of the standout films of the year, and now you can enjoy it at home – the Warner Bros. feature is streaming on HBO Max. During the early days of the pandemic, Netflix released The Old Guard, inspired by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández’s graphic novels, featuring Charlize Theron as the leader of a group of mercenaries. Five years later, The Old Guard 2 has finally arrived. Additionally, on Prime Video, John Cena and Idris Elba team up in an unexpected action-comedy dynamic in Heads of State, which premiered on Wednesday.

New on HBO Max July 4: Sinners

Created by filmmaker Ryan Coogler, Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan playing dual roles as twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore, who return to their Mississippi hometown in the 1930s. Upon their return, they uncover a dark, supernatural threat. This film, which became available on Max on Friday, also features Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Wunmi Mosaku, and Jack O’Connell.

Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Henry Golding and the rest of the Old Guard are back for the sequel to Netflix’s 2020 action hit. The Old Guard 2 arrived this week on Netflix and sees Theron’s Andy, an immortal mercenary, not only facing her own mortality, but a new foe, too, in the form of Uma Thurman.

John Cena and Idris Elba co-star in the new action comedy Heads of State as a U.S. President and U.K. Prime Minister who don’t get along. Diplomacy hangs in the balance as these two knuckleheads bicker, but they find themselves forced to come together when they both become targets of a foreign adversary threatening them. Turns out, when they work together they can actually kick some butt.
