“Saturday Night Live” took a comedic jab at the former Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, humorously addressing her recent dismissal by President Trump. The skit portrayed Noem as being humorously “transferred under the bus.”
In the sketch, Ashley Padilla embodied Noem with her signature styled hair and heavy makeup. She humorously insisted that she wasn’t fired but rather “self-deported,” poking fun at rumors of Noem’s cosmetic enhancements and a startling revelation from her book about her dog’s fate.
She quipped, “I want to be clear; I wasn’t fired, I self-deported,” satirizing Noem’s controversial ads encouraging immigrants to voluntarily leave the U.S.
Padilla, in character, continued, “Though I’m leaving this position, my mission doesn’t end here. As I mentioned to my plastic surgeon, the work is ongoing. I dedicated myself to the DHS without regrets. As they say, you miss 100% of the dogs you don’t shoot.” This was a playful nod to the book excerpt.
The sketch also poked fun at Noem’s tenure as South Dakota governor, her $220 million television campaigns, and her rumored affair with DHS aide Corey Lewandowski.
“I’m proud of our achievements… I think I truly nailed it, and by it, I mean my married colleague, in a big, beautifully flying bedroom 30,000 feet above Minneapolis,” she joked, referencing the alleged romantic liaison.
“And while I look forward to what comes next, leaving is bittersweet, but the time has come for me to turn in my badge, gun, lips, lashes, teeth and forehead.”
She claimed her goodbye wasn’t permanent, but Colin Jost’s Pete Hegseth jumped in: “Yeah, except that it is.”
Noem, nicknamed ICE Barbie, was ousted Thursday after a string of flubs, from claiming Trump approved her pricey TV spots to dodging questions about her rumored fling with Lewandowski.
Trump tapped her for a brand-new gig as special envoy for “Shield of the Americas.”
Oklahoma GOP Sen. Markwayne Mullin is set to replace her at DHS.
