A Southern California In-N-Out Burger customer armed with nothing more than a spatula is being praised after stepping in to stop a chaotic confrontation inside the restaurant.
Video from the Lake Elsinore location captured the startling scene, showing the unidentified drive-thru customer facing off with a woman who was swinging a large piece of wood inside the fast-food restaurant.
The customer who recorded the incident said the confrontation first caught her attention while she was waiting in the drive-thru, when she heard a young man in the car ahead of her shout toward a woman inside, “Get the F out of here.”
At first, the witness said she assumed the two knew each other and were simply involved in some kind of personal dispute.
But the situation quickly escalated. The witness said she noticed there appeared to be no employees visible in the kitchen moments before the driver got out of his vehicle and climbed through the drive-thru window to confront the woman.
“And he gets out of his car and he jumps through the window like he’s Spiderman or does this Jackie Chan move feet first through the window,” the witness said.
In the footage, the young man can be seen holding a spatula as he squares off with the woman, who appears to swing the wooden object at him several times.
“And he starts battling this lady with the stick,” the witness added, saying the woman “had chased all the staff into some back room.”
The video cuts out after the man appears to lunge at the woman.
The witness said she later learned that the woman was “upset because they didn’t make her burger fast enough.”
“But this kid, like totally, saved the day,” she added.
The witness called on the popular fast-food joint to reward the man with “burgers for life.”
Commenters on the post also praised the man as a hero.
“A lot of people don’t have the balls to stand up for others or even themselves these days! I give this kid mad props!!!” one person wrote.
“Yeah burgers for life for this young man. This is the way,” another added.
