A bullet narrowly missed a man’s head, only grazing him, as reported by investigators.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Wednesday evening, a man was taken to the hospital following a shooting incident in front of a residence in Jacksonville’s Springfield neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) confirmed.

Preliminary findings from the JSO indicate that the altercation began when the man engaged in a confrontation with another person outside a home on North Market Street, Sgt. Johnson from the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit explained.

Sgt. Johnson detailed that shortly after this altercation, the man was seated in his vehicle when a black car arrived. A suspect emerged from it and started firing shots at him.

JSO reported that one of these shots barely touched the top of the victim’s head.

Following the shooting, the assailant returned to the black vehicle and quickly left the scene, with their direction of escape currently unknown, Johnson added.

A description of the suspect was not released.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
