Authorities reported that a teenager from Georgia was taken into custody on Tuesday following his father’s decision to hand him over to law enforcement. The arrest is linked to two separate shooting incidents.
Identified as Lequan Stephens, the 16-year-old is now facing aggravated assault charges, as outlined by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Lovejoy Police Department, officers were dispatched on January 17th to a shooting incident on the 2500 block of Lovejoy Crossing Lane.

Upon arrival, police discovered a young individual seated in the front passenger side of a vehicle, suffering from gunshot injuries to both the face and neck.
Investigators revealed that the suspect fired shots into the car, hitting the victim, before making an escape from the location.
Authorities later identified Stephens as the alleged shooter and obtained warrants for his arrest.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation also secured warrants for Stephens in connection with a separate shooting, according to law enforcement.
The sheriff’s department said it executed a coordinated operation involving multiple agencies at several residences linked to Stephens’ relatives and acquaintances.
“Law enforcement made it clear that Stephens had no place to hide and would receive no assistance,” the department said in a statement.
