OREM, Utah – Students backing Charlie Kirk express their determination to uphold the free speech rights associated with the late Turning Point USA founder, undeterred by his assassination.

Cousins and college students, Anthony and McKinley Shinkle, shared with Fox News Digital on Thursday their steadfast support for Kirk, stating the shooting only strengthened their resolve against intimidation.

“Violence is futile for those who use it, especially in such circumstances. We intend to demonstrate that no matter the actions, we remain unafraid,” McKinley conveyed to Fox News Digital.

Despite not attending the event, the Shinkles actively voiced their support for Kirk’s free-speech principles and advocacy for traditional values.

In the aftermath, students questioned the lack of security.

“There was no bag checking. No one was close to the entrance. If we could walk in without hindrance, anyone else could as well,” Tao remarked. “Back on campus, I feel less secure. I’ve realized I’m more traumatized than I had anticipated.”

For international students who had once seen U.S. political debate as a model of free expression, the incident left lasting doubts.

“This is the first time I participated in this, and after this I will have a little bit more fear talking about politics in public,” Lo said.

Still, Tao expressed gratitude that the tragedy was not even worse.

“I’m just thankful that a second gunshot did not go off,” she said.
