Sunny Hostin’s Son Settles Trespassing Case After DA Bid Flops

Sunny Hostin’s 24-year-old son has had his Westchester County trespassing case cleared after completing a court-mandated program — a resolution that came after the “The View” co-host reportedly spent weeks pushing for the matter to be dropped.

Gabriel Hostin, a Harvard-educated Ivy League graduate, was stopped on June 16 after authorities said he trespassed on Metro-North Railroad tracks in New Rochelle. The encounter led to a trespassing violation, while bodycam footage captured his well-known mother speaking with officers at the scene.

“My name is Sunny Hostin and I’m one of the co-hosts of ‘The View’ and I’m a former federal prosecutor,” she told police, according to the footage. “That’s my son. He’s a Harvard graduate, he doesn’t have a criminal record.”

Sources said Hostin continued to press the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office in the weeks that followed, seeking to have the case resolved without further consequences for her son.

Gabriel Hostin later accepted a deal requiring him to complete a three-hour Fresh Start course. The Westchester DA’s Office describes the initiative as a “pre-arraignment diversion program” designed to give eligible first-time, low-level offenders a path toward dismissal.

After Hostin finished the course on Aug. 20, prosecutors submitted a letter to the court asking that the trespassing charge be dismissed based on his completion of the program.

The 2025 Harvard University graduate told officers he had been running near 24 Station Plaza in New Rochelle when he noticed that a gate by the tracks was open.

At one point during the stop, he asked police, “Is this necessary?” The officers answered together: “Yes.”

“What happens if you didn’t do it?” he said, with one officer responding that their “hands were tied” — and adding that if they didn’t spot him along the tracks, someone else would have.

“Because it is an arrestable offense. I want to make that clear, okay? Where you were on the tracks is an arrestable offense,” one MTA cop can be heard asserting in the bodycam footage.

In addition to her spot on the hit show, Sunny Hostin is a lawyer and former prosecutor.

His talk show co-host mom declined to comment to The Post after the incident, but in a letter to the prosecutor on the case shared with TMZ, she said her son was simply jogging and did not see any visible no trespassing signs that suggested it was illegal to walk through the gate.

A rep for Sunny Hostin did not respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
