Newly released footage appears to capture the final known movements of a missing North Carolina mother near the Grenada resort where she had been staying.
Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell, 43, was reported missing on July 22 after she was last spotted walking along Grand Anse Beach. The Cary, North Carolina, physical therapist had traveled to Grenada for a three-week vacation with a friend and disappeared after going for a swim, according to police.
Surveillance video posted on YouTube by Waddell’s family shows a person believed to be Liz walking near a pool while carrying a towel. Moments later, the individual appears near the shoreline before entering the water for a swim.

The footage was reportedly obtained from security cameras at an Airbnb property and could represent the last time Waddell was seen alive.
Cailen Waddell, Liz’s husband, addressed the search in a statement, saying in part:

“Despite our exhaustive efforts, we have not been successful. After careful and thoughtful consultation with family, local authorities, the U.S. Embassy, and others here in Grenada, I join authorities in believing there was no foul play.”
He has been on the ground searching with authorities since he arrived in the island country on Friday, two days after his wife went missing.
In a news conference on Wednesday, Randy Connaught, the commissioner of the Royal Grenada Police Force, said they have not reached any conclusions about Waddell’s disappearance.

Police have used dive teams, drones and dogs to try and locate any trace of Waddell.
The investigation remains active, with detectives continuing to pursue multiple lines of inquiry while urging anyone with information to come forward, police said.
