A small aircraft incident unfolded at a Los Angeles airport early Thursday when a suspect allegedly broke into the premises around 4 a.m. and commandeered a plane, as reported by the Los Angeles Airport Police.
The Federal Aviation Administration noted that the aircraft involved was a single-engine Cessna C172, which collided with a hangar around 5 a.m.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 37-year-old Ceffeareno Logan, who is now facing charges related to burglary and aircraft theft.
“Logan… trespassed onto a private leasehold at Van Nuys general aviation airport, gaining unauthorized access to a Cessna plane, subsequently causing damage to nearby structures,” said LAX Police in a statement to Fox News Digital. “LAXPD acted swiftly, apprehending the suspect on the scene.”

The FBI’s Los Angeles field office also confirmed its involvement, with federal agents responding to the incident as well, as shared with Fox News Digital.
Photos from the crash site show the single-engine Cessna C172 appeared to have left a large hole in the building.
Law enforcement officials said the plane never made it off the ground, KTLA reported. Investigators believe the plane struck the hangar while taxiing, the outlet added.

The plane appeared to have a damaged propeller after it was removed from the crash site and placed inside a building, footage from SkyFox showed.
It remains unclear whether authorities are searching for additional suspects.
