An undocumented truck driver has been detained and is facing deportation following an alleged attempt to make an unauthorized U-turn in Florida that resulted in a collision, claiming the lives of three individuals.
Harjinder Singh, who entered the United States without legal documentation and acquired a commercial driver’s license in California, stands accused of three counts of vehicular manslaughter related to the deadly incident that occurred on Tuesday, as stated in a press release by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV).
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer has been issued, according to an X post from the Official White House Rapid Response account.
“The conduct exhibited by the defendant while driving a commercial tractor-trailer is both appalling and unlawful,” stated FLHSMV Executive Director Dave Kerner. “Three individuals lost their lives due to his carelessness, and numerous friends and family members will endure the grief of their absence endlessly.”
A law passed in 2013 allows California residents to obtain a driver’s license, regardless of their immigration status.
ICE did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
