San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan’s campaign for California governor is generating significant enthusiasm from influential business figures, including billionaire Rick Caruso. Caruso, who had previously considered his own gubernatorial run before opting out for personal reasons, is among Mahan’s notable supporters.
On the social media platform X, Caruso expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am very excited by my good friend @MattMahanSJ’s decision to run for Governor. Matt is a practically minded moderate and a thoughtful leader brimming with innovative new ideas.”
Caruso further elaborated, “I have encouraged him to run and I’m delighted he’s entering the race,” highlighting his support for Mahan’s candidacy.
Residing in the epicenter of Silicon Valley, Mahan has also garnered backing from other influential individuals known for their substantial influence and financial resources.
Garry Tan, CEO of the San Francisco-based startup accelerator Y Combinator, took to X to voice his endorsement, stating, “California desperately needs this.”
Tan’s post emphasized the need for tangible outcomes, saying, “Not more vibes. Not more trolling. RESULTS,” seemingly critiquing Governor Gavin Newsom’s frequent social media exchanges with the Trump administration.
Billionaire venture capitalist Steve Jurveston chimed in, “Thank you! And what a start on Polymarket!”
On the betting site, Mahan immediately shot up to #2 behind Rep. Eric Swalwell.
