A 19-year-old mother who was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend in a double homicide had twice sought protective orders against him, repeatedly telling the court she was “terrified” and feared he was “going to kill” her.
Nalyn Reeves was shot dead Monday alongside fellow mother Undrea Willis, 25, inside a Montgomery, Ala., home, allegedly by Tarus Giles, the father of Reeves’ 10-month-old child, according to AL.com.
Police said the women had locked the front door before the gunman forced his way in through a living room window and opened fire, killing both mothers in front of their children. Reeves and Willis were pronounced dead at the scene.
In the year leading up to her death, Reeves made two attempts to obtain court protection from Giles, who was free on bond in a third-degree burglary case when he allegedly carried out the fatal shooting.
“I am terrified of Tarus,” Reeves wrote in a court filing submitted just months before she was killed. “I am afraid that he is eventually going to kill me or, worse, hurt my child.”
Reeves first petitioned for a protection-from-abuse order in September of last year, accusing Giles of assaulting her and threatening to kill her while she was pregnant with his baby.
“Tarus physically beat me from 9 a.m.–11 a.m., blacked my eye, gave me knots, busted my nose,” she wrote in the filing, according to AL.com.
“Tarus has been threatening my family and I,” Reeves also told the court. “He has told people when he finds me, he will kill me.”

Giles also threatened to kill her and the unborn baby, and returned to the location with a knife. She escaped and ran to a neighbor’s home for help, according to the document.
Neither Reeves nor Giles attended the restraining order hearing in November, so a judge dismissed it.
Reeves tried again the same month to get protection from Giles, whom she had broken up with after the birth of their child.
She claimed that Giles had yanked one of her braids out of her head when they fought during their breakup.
That restraining order was dismissed in April because the papers were never served to Giles, court records show.
Giles was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of capital murder in the presence of a child under 14, one count of capital murder of two or more people and one count of capital murder during a burglary.
Video posted by the Montgomery Police Department showed the accused murderer being hauled into a police cruiser in handcuffs. He is scheduled to appear on court Friday.
The Montgomery Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
