The brothers of a Mississippi teenager accused of killing an elderly couple are now facing separate allegations after authorities say they tried to shoot a sheriff’s deputy in an incident just days later. Investigators said the deputy suffered catastrophic injuries and will “never walk again.”
According to WLBT, 17-year-old Cordarius Hobbs is accused of breaking into the Mendenhall home of Billy Blair, 74, and his wife, Virginia Carol Blair, 71, on June 3 and killing them.
Five days later, on June 8, Cordarius Hobbs’ brothers, Cortavious and Cortavion Hobbs, were accused of attempting to kill a Covington County deputy. Covington County Chief Deputy Sheriff Ricky Lott told News Agency that the pair fled after a traffic stop and allegedly opened fire on deputies.
Mississippi Department of Public Safety Media and Public Relations Specialist Bailey Martin confirmed to News Agency that the three suspects are brothers.
Cortavius Hobbs and Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs were later taken into custody in connection with the alleged attempt to kill the deputy, according to the Covington County Sheriff’s Department.
