A 60-year-old Texas man was arrested after police said he drove through the entrance of a Kroger grocery store because he urgently needed to use the restroom.
According to investigators, the man became upset when he found the store’s doors locked and intentionally drove his vehicle into the building while the supermarket was closed.
The unusual early-morning crash occurred at approximately 4:28 a.m. Sunday in Rosenberg, Texas, police said.
The impact left the Kroger store with extensive damage, particularly around the pharmacy entrance.
Photos released by the Rosenberg Police Department showed the vehicle lodged inside the store, with broken glass scattered around both sides of the entrance.
The images also revealed severely damaged metal door frames following the crash.
“On Sunday, September 27th, at approximately 0428, a known male individual intentionally accelerated into Kroger, causing extensive damage to the pharmacy entrance,” the Rosenberg Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The department added a lighthearted warning: “I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go but we strongly advise finding a store open for business…to do your business.”
Authorities identified the suspect only as a 60-year-old man.
Police told FOX 26 that he was taken into custody and charged with criminal mischief.
