Texas preschool teacher allegedly pointed gun at driver during road-rage confrontation

A preschool teacher from Texas found herself in legal trouble after a road rage incident on Wednesday that involved a firearm. Latashia Deshawn Walker-County, aged 51, is accused of pulling a gun on another driver during a heated exchange in Bexar County.

The confrontation escalated quickly, with the victim promptly alerting the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office about the alarming incident. According to News 4 San Antonio, investigators acted swiftly and managed to track down Walker-County.

Upon being questioned, Walker-County reportedly admitted to brandishing her firearm during the altercation with the other female driver. This led to her being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has since been released on a $50,000 bond.

Walker-County is currently employed as a pre-kindergarten teacher at Essence Preparatory Public School in San Antonio, Texas. The institution, as per its website, has been dealing with its own challenges and now faces this additional controversy involving one of its staff members.

Walker-County was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and released on a $50,000 bond.

Walker-County is a pre-kindergarten teacher at the troubled Essence Preparatory Public School in San Antonio, Texas, according to its website.

The tuition-free public charter school was ordered to close at the end of this academic year — just four years after opening its doors, as reported by the San Antonio Report.

The Texas Education Agency declined to renew the charter’s license, citing three years of consistent low academic performance.

The school, which serves students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade, was “created to meet black and brown children’s educational, social and emotional needs” and endeavored to “show that home zip codes are not predictors of educational success,” according to its website.

In the wake of her speedy release — and impending unemployment — Walker-County shared cryptic posts about thanking God “for what didn’t happen.”

She also reshared one post that about “[cleaning] up your spirit” rather than worrying “about an image.”
