A man on the run in Texas, who reportedly served as a security guard for Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), was fatally shot in a confrontation with a Dallas SWAT team on Wednesday night.
The individual, known by multiple aliases such as Mike King, was sought after for posing as a law enforcement officer. He allegedly used this false identity to recruit for his business, which provided off-duty police officers with side jobs, according to a report from CBS News Texas.
On Wednesday night, the Dallas Police Department’s fugitive unit was following King when he barricaded himself in a vehicle parked in the garage of Children’s Medical Center Dallas at approximately 11:40 p.m., as officials stated during a press briefing Thursday morning.

SWAT members deployed tear gas to force King out of the car. Upon exiting, he reportedly aimed a firearm at the officers, prompting them to open fire.
King was struck by the police gunfire and was declared dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet disclosed his true identity.
During her time in Washington, DC, and Texas, King provided security for Crockett, including during her campaign events for the Democratic Senate nomination. Ultimately, she lost the nomination to James Talarico, as reported by CBS.
Video footage shared by the outlet captured 44-year-old Democrat walking beside her towering security guard, who had been living a double life as a crime boss masquerading as a cop.

King had run the online website “Off Duty Police Services” while allegedly driving a replica undercover cop car with stolen license plates from a military recruiting office.
Crockett had most recently paid “Mike King” for “security services” as recently as last year despite the shadowy figure having a criminal background, according to CBS News Texas.
The Post has reached out to Crockett’s office.
