A man believed to have assaulted three people at a Swiss train station on Thursday morning has been apprehended, the Zurich Cantonal Police confirmed.
“Around 30 meters away, I heard a man behind me repeatedly shout ‘Allahu akbar’ with intense emotion and agitation,” a witness described to the news outlet Blick.
The incident unfolded shortly after 8:30 a.m. when a man used a bladed weapon to injure three individuals at Winterthur train station. The authorities have taken the suspect, a 31-year-old Swiss citizen, into custody, according to the Zurich Cantonal Police.

The three injured Swiss nationals, aged 28, 43, and 52, were taken to the hospital for treatment, as stated in the police report.

“The motive for the attack is under investigation,” the release added.
Zurich Cantonal Police did not provide Fox News Digital with additional information on the incident besides saying a press conference is planned Thursday afternoon about the incident.

“Together with the Zurich cantonal police, the Winterthur city police, the SBB transport police, the rescue service of the Winterthur cantonal hospital and Zurich protection & rescue were deployed. More information will follow this afternoon,” the press release noted.
