Long Island mom of 3 found dead inside her car at gas station as suspect charged with murder

In a tragic incident on Long Island, authorities have charged a suspect with the murder of a mother of three, whose body was discovered in a vehicle in Suffolk County on Saturday.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Juliann Bachmann from Bellport, was found in a distressed and unresponsive state inside a car at a Speedway gas station in Yaphank. This discovery was made shortly before 7:30 a.m., as reported by the Suffolk County Police Department.

Bachmann was promptly transported to NYU Langone Hospital — Suffolk in Patchogue. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Later that day, around 12 hours after the initial discovery, police apprehended Michael McHenry, a 40-year-old resident of Bellport. He has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Bachmann’s death.

McHenry was taken into custody at approximately 8:15 p.m. and remained detained overnight. He was expected to face arraignment proceedings on Sunday at the First District Court in Central Islip.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of Bachmann’s death or her relationship, if any, with McHenry.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk County Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.
