In a tragic discovery on Sunday morning, authorities found a man and a small dog deceased inside a mobile veterinary van in Queens. Meanwhile, another man was discovered unconscious just outside the vehicle, according to police sources.
The incident unfolded around 9:25 a.m. in Flushing at the intersection of 65th Ave. and Parsons Blvd., where police officers and emergency medical technicians arrived to investigate the situation.
Inside the van, a 57-year-old man and a dog were found lifeless, while a 73-year-old man lay unconscious outside. It appears the older man sustained a fall that rendered him unconscious, though the exact circumstances are still under investigation, as per police sources.
The identity of the deceased man has not been released by authorities.
The unconscious man was transported by medics to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens, where he remains in stable condition.
Authorities are still determining if the cold weather played a role in the younger man’s death. Notably, 14 individuals have died on the city’s streets amid historically low temperatures as of Saturday.
