Hit-run truck strikes NYC pedestrian -- leaving helpless victim to be finished off by passing SUV

Tragedy unfolded on Friday night in the Bronx when a 40-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by two vehicles. The initial incident occurred when a truck hit the man as he was crossing East 138th Street and Bruckner Boulevard, just after 7:30 p.m. However, the driver of the truck did not stop, leaving the victim vulnerable in the middle of the road.

The grim scene was marked by a crutch and bloodstains, evidence of the devastating impact. As the victim lay on the pavement, a 2015 Honda CR-V, driven by a 61-year-old man, was unable to avoid him and struck the pedestrian a second time. The driver was traveling in the same direction as the truck and had no opportunity to stop in time.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the site after receiving a 911 call, rushing the injured man to Lincoln Hospital. Sadly, despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing as police seek to identify the driver of the truck who fled the scene. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in their investigation.

Paramedics rushed to the scene after a 911 call was placed and raced the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made at this point, and the investigation remains ongoing, officials said.
