A tragic incident unfolded in the Larchmont region of Los Angeles over the weekend, as a fire started in a vacant home and rapidly spread to a neighboring residence. This devastating blaze resulted in the loss of two cherished pet dogs.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the fire erupted on Sunday afternoon on St. Andrews Place. Over 100 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, laboring for about an hour to subdue the ferocious flames.

The Galicia family, who have been residents of the affected home since 2008, now find themselves mourning the destruction of their house and the heartbreaking death of their two dogs.

Investigations revealed that the fire’s origin was the abandoned home next door. Despite extensive searches, no individuals were found inside. For over a year, the Galicia family had been alerting authorities about intruders, often spotting them smoking inside the empty property.

Jonathan Galicia, a member of the family, expressed his frustration, stating that he had reported the issue of homeless individuals breaking into the vacant house to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“They did nothing,” Jonathan lamented. “I spoke to LAPD to kick them out, and they did nothing. Now my house is burned, and my dogs are dead. I just wish they would’ve listened because I called and I called, and they didn’t answer.”

Neighbors also say a large homeless encampment just a block away has been growing for months with tents, furniture and illegal activity.

Arson investigators were called to the scene as authorities tried to determine the cause of the fire. No people were injured.
