A man lost his life following a shooting incident in a parking area on Chicago’s South Side, authorities reported.
Police detained an individual after the shooting that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, as confirmed by the Chicago police department.

The incident took place in the Brainerd neighborhood, specifically in the 9400 block of South Ashland Avenue, around 3:30 p.m., according to police statements.
Authorities revealed that a known individual approached the 32-year-old victim, drew a handgun, and opened fire.
Suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen, the victim was rushed to Christ Hospital in critical condition, where unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries, officials stated.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office identified the deceased as Antoine Alexander, aged 32. His death, caused by a gunshot wound to the abdomen, is currently under investigation as a homicide.
Investigators were staged near a Page Security parking lot on Tuesday.
Employees from a nearby business say the shooting happened after an altercation between two Page Security employees.
One of the employees told ABC7 they ran for cover after they witnessed the shooting. They said the shooter ran away.
Police recovered a gun from the scene. CPD later confirmed that one person was taken into custody.
Area detectives are investigating.
