Brunswick police officer placed on administrative leave after being arrested in domestic dispute

The Brunswick Police Department has identified at least three teenagers and an 18-year-old in relation to a recent shooting incident.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — On Wednesday, the Brunswick Police Department revealed that several teenagers have been charged in connection with two separate shootings that took place in March.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire on Sunday, March 22, around 2 p.m. at the Brooklyn Homes North apartments located on Stonewall Street. Upon arrival, they found multiple vehicles damaged and observed structural harm to a building within the complex.

While investigating the scene, a resident informed the officers of another shooting incident near the 2400 block of Cleburne Street, which authorities believe is linked to the initial report.

Through surveillance video, investigators identified two potential suspect vehicles: a white Ford Escape and a dark-colored Buick LaCrosse.

As of Wednesday, April 1, the police department confirmed that three juveniles have been charged with several offenses, including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, discharging a firearm from a highway, first-degree criminal damage to property, and possession of a firearm by someone under 18. The names of the teenagers have not been released, and they are currently being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice.

An 18-year-old, LaDonte Roberts, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, discharge of a firearm from a highway, and criminal damage to property in the first degree. Roberts is currently in custody with the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.

While this case remains active, any information regarding the teens or incidents is asked to contact Detective Melissa Howell by calling 912-279-2606, or remain anonymous by calling the Silent Witness line 912-267-5516.
