In North Codorus Township, Pennsylvania, at least one officer is reported dead, and several others were injured in a shooting as they attempted to serve a warrant, officials informed ABC News on Wednesday.

The incident is under investigation in North Codorus Township, located roughly 115 miles west of Philadelphia and near the Maryland border, according to authorities.

York Hospital announced it is treating two individuals in serious condition due to the police-related event in northern York County and has implemented heightened security measures.

Details on the incident have been limited. Governor Josh Shapiro is expected to provide an update at 6:15 p.m.

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Austin Davis urged the public on social media to “please send prayers to the officers and all involved in the York County shooting.”

A nearby school district enforced a shelter-in-place order, though clarified that no involvement of schools or students occurred. The order was rescinded later in the day. Authorities had advised the district to keep students and staff secured indoors due to several road closures.

The medical response unfolded on a rural road in south-central Pennsylvania that winds through an agricultural area with a barn and farm fields.

The Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia posted a message on social media stating they are “monitoring the situation” in Pennsylvania and advised Mexican nationals nearby to heed official guidelines. A consulate representative specified that the announcement was “merely a precautionary notice for our community.”

Officers were keeping people well back from the scene in the area’s rolling farmland, with some 30 police vehicles blocking off roads bordered by a barn, a goat farm and soybean and corn fields.

“Pennsylvania State Police, Northern Regional Police and numerous emergency responders are at the scene. The York County Commissioners are monitoring the situation closely and praying for all those involved,” the county said in a statement.
