Teen charged with fatally shooting his sister, 21, in the head

Tragedy has struck a New Hampshire family as an 18-year-old has been charged with the murder of his older sister. Logan Anderson is facing the possibility of life in prison after being accused of fatally shooting Leah Anderson, 21, at their family home.

The heartbreaking incident occurred on a Monday morning, leaving the community in shock. Leah, a dedicated student at Plymouth State University, was not only pursuing a degree in elementary education but also actively contributed to an after-school program, working closely with local students.

Authorities have yet to disclose any potential motive behind the shooting. However, they have expressed deep sympathy for the family’s unimaginable grief, with one child lost to violence and another facing severe legal consequences.

“This case is particularly harrowing,” stated New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Bethany Durand. “The family is experiencing profound trauma, having lost a child and now witnessing another charged with such a grave act.”

The tragedy unfolded just 10 miles from Leah’s university, where she was making strides in her educational career. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a promising young life while grappling with the complexities of familial tragedy.

Leah had been pursuing her elementary education degree at Plymouth State University — about 10 miles from where she was found dead — and worked with local students in an after-school program.

“From how I knew her, she was a wonderful person. I know she worked up at the Marshalls there, so she would always talk to me when I went in there and stuff,” said Andy Hazelton, who had been a classmate of Leah’s at Plymouth Regional High School, where she graduated from in 2023.

“It’s a small town. You really don’t hear about stuff like this happening too often. It’s tragic. It’s really sad.”

Logan is charged with second-degree murder, according to the Thornton Police Department.

He’s currently being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court next on June 17.
