In a tragic incident that has left a profound impact on family and friends, a 33-year-old father from Alabama has been confirmed as one of the six service members who lost their lives in an Air Force refueling aircraft crash in Iraq. This heartbreaking news was shared by his brother-in-law, who spoke about the immense loss.
Major Alex Klinner, who had dedicated seven years to the United States Air Force, had only been deployed for a short time before the fatal accident occurred. The catastrophe involved a US Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker, which collided with another tanker in what was described as “friendly airspace” on a Thursday.
“To put it simply, it’s utterly heartbreaking,” expressed his brother-in-law, James Harrill, on Saturday. “He was a truly exceptional dad who cherished his family immensely.”

Living in Birmingham, Major Klinner was known for his love of hiking and the great outdoors. He is survived by his young family, including 7-month-old twins and a 2-year-old son, leaving behind a household filled with cherished memories.
As an Auburn University graduate, Major Klinner was remembered fondly for his willingness to assist others and his steady demeanor. “Alex possessed a calm authority that was truly remarkable,” Harrill remarked, who has also initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support the grieving family during this difficult time.
“Alex was one of those guys that had this steady command about him,” said Harrill, who helped launched a GoFundMe for his grief-stricken family.

“He was literally one of the most kindest, giving people.”
Tech. Sgt. Tyler Simmons, 28, from Columbus, Ohio, was also identified as being on the deadly flight.
A total of 13 American service members have been killed since combat operations began Feb. 28. About 140 US forces have been wounded, eight of them severely, the Pentagon said earlier this week.
