Woman killed FDNY truck nighttime incident

Tragedy struck in the Bronx on Friday night when a woman was fatally hit by an FDNY truck en route to an emergency, according to officials.

The accident unfolded at approximately 11:15 p.m., at the intersection of Intervale Avenue and Chisholm Street.

Authorities report that the woman, whose identity and age have not yet been released, was crossing Intervale Avenue from east to west when she was struck by Fire Engine 82 of the FDNY.

The fire engine was operated by a 34-year-old firefighter who was driving north at the time of the incident.

Emergency responders transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was later declared deceased.

The NYPD has launched an investigation into this tragic event, though no charges have been pressed at this time.

The FDNY did not provide any additional information.
