NYC subway surfing stunt leaves teen dead, another critical at Williamsburg Bridge

Tragedy struck on the Williamsburg Bridge Friday evening when a dangerous subway surfing attempt claimed the life of a 14-year-old and left an 18-year-old critically injured.

Authorities found the pair unconscious on the J/M line tracks at approximately 6:50 p.m., police reported.

The younger of the two succumbed to injuries that appeared to result from a fall during the stunt.

Meanwhile, the older individual was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Demetrius Crichlow, the NYC Transit president, expressed his sorrow in a statement, calling the incident “heartbreaking” and lamenting the persistent occurrence of such dangerous acts despite their fatal potential.

“As a parent, it is incomprehensible and painful to see these tragedies continue. I urge families, friends, and educators to intervene and prevent teens from engaging in these life-threatening activities,” the statement urged.

The Williamsburg Bridge is known as dangerous among subway surfers.

Last October, a 12-year-old Brooklyn girl was killed in a subway surfing accident — reminiscent of Friday’s events.

Zemfira Mukhtarov frequently posted her death-defying adventures on TikTok, and was reportedly obsessed with thrill-seeking.

She was found dead on the Williamsburg Bridge.

“I always working, and I don’t know what she’s doing, what time she’s doing,” her grieving mom Nataliya Rudenko, of Ukraine, told The Post.

“One time I see she is on the top of the Williamsburg Bridge, [pretending to] hold our city on her hand.”
