Treadmill recall expands to include about 47,000 units

Johnson Health Tech North America has broadened its voluntary recall of Matrix Retail and Vision treadmills, as announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday. The recall addresses a significant safety concern involving the treadmills’ power cords.

Specifically, the issue lies in the power cord’s inability to remain securely connected to the treadmill’s power socket during operation, which poses a potential fire and burn hazard. This precautionary measure comes after at least 27 incidents were reported where the power cord socket overheated, although fortunately, no injuries have been documented.

The affected models include Matrix Retail T30, TF30, T50, TF50, and T75, as well as Vision T9800, TF20, T40, and T80 treadmills. These units were available for purchase from April 2012 through May 2025, with prices ranging between $2,100 and $8,100. They were sold through various fitness retailers and online platforms across the country.

To verify if a treadmill is part of this recall, consumers can find the model names and serial numbers located on the lower front crossbar near the power switch. For a comprehensive list of the recalled models, further details are available to the public.

The recall covers Matrix Retail T30, TF30, T50, TF50, and T75 treadmills, Vision T9800, TF20, T40, and T80 treadmills sold from April 2012 through May 2025. They cost about $2,100 and $8,100 and were sold at multiple fitness retailers and online outlets nationwide. See a full list here.

Model names and serial number locations are on the lower front crossbar near the power switch.

Consumers are urged to check their treadmills to see if it has a power cord bracket and make sure the cord is fully plugged in before each use until a repair is completed.

Owners of affected models can contact Johnson Health Tech North America for a replacement power cord with an automatic locking-style plug to be installed without tools, the CPSC said.

Consumers with questions about the recall can call Johnson Health Tech North America at 800-211-4590, email retailpowercord@johnsonfit.com or visit matrixhomefitness.com/recalls or visionfitness.com/eng/recalls.

The recall expands an earlier 2024 notice involving commercial Matrix treadmills, which had a similar safety issue.
