ISLAMABAD — President Trump has announced that his Middle East envoy is set to visit Pakistan this week in an effort to revive peace negotiations aimed at ending the Iran War. The president shared this update with The Post on Sunday.
“Steve will be heading there tomorrow night,” Trump stated during a phone conversation from the White House, confirming that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening to prepare for a new round of peace discussions.
Additionally, Trump mentioned that Jared Kushner, his son-in-law known for his previous involvement in Middle East diplomacy, will play a role in the talks planned for Tuesday.
However, Vice President JD Vance, who was at the forefront of earlier discussions, will not be part of the delegation traveling to Pakistan.
When informed that Qatari officials were seen in Islamabad anticipating his arrival, Trump appeared unfazed and left open the possibility of visiting Islamabad himself if the talks bear fruit.
“I might consider it at a later date. We’ll have to see how things progress tomorrow,” he commented. When asked if a trip to Pakistan was imminent, Trump emphasized that he is not rushing the process, stating he would “probably come at a later date.”
