SYRACUSE, N.Y. – President Trump mocked Albany Democrats at a rally Friday over legislation that would remove the terms “mother” and “father” from certain state laws and replace them with “gestating parent.”
Speaking to supporters in Syracuse, Trump attacked Empire State Democrats, including “radical left lunatic” Gov. Kathy Hochul, over a bill addressing surrogacy terminology. The legislation refers to “gestating” and “non-gestating” parents and uses “parentage” hearings in place of “paternity” proceedings.
“Kathy Hochul supports transgender mutilation of your children. She supports men in women’s sports and a bill that would change the terms of mother and father to gestating and non-gestating parents,” Trump said.
“You can no longer say ‘mother, hi mom!’ It’s ‘hi gestating,’” the president said, ridiculing the proposed terminology.
“‘Hi gestating, I love you so much gestating,’” he continued, drawing laughter from the several thousand people attending the rally. Trump then urged the crowd to support Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in his campaign for governor.

“New York needs to throw out this radical left lunatic and elect Bruce Blakeman,” Trump declared.
Blakeman, the Republican nominee, was trailing Hochul by 11 points in the latest Marist poll, released Wednesday. However, a Siena University survey last month showed him within single digits of the incumbent governor.
“This is insane,” Blakeman told the crowd earlier as he criticized the “parentage” bill.
“You see, they want to take control away from parents. They’re denigrating moms and dads. They’re letting Albany make the decisions that should be up to parents,” the Long Island politician said.
A spokesperson for Hochul said the governor “believes mothers are mothers and fathers are fathers, and no legislation changes that.”
“The legislation, which we will review, appears to address technical legal issues related to surrogacy and parentage. Anyone making bad-faith arguments is deliberately misleading New Yorkers for political gain,” the spokesperson added.
