DONALD Trump has announced he will double the tariffs on steel and aluminium imports to 50 per cent in his latest trade war escalation.

A federal appeals court has reinstated the president’s harsh global tariffs, coming just a day after they had been deemed illegal and strikingly halted.

Speaking to employees at a US Steel facility in Pennsylvania, Trump proclaimed, “We will increase the tariffs on steel entering the United States from 25 percent to 50 percent.”

“Nobody’s going to get around that.”

Soon after, Trump announced on Truth Social that this increased rate would also extend to aluminum, with the new tariffs set to begin on “Wednesday, June 4th.”

Trump has imposed sweeping tariffs on allies and adversaries alike in moves that have rocked the world trade order.
